Since their independence from Spain in 1821*, this jewel of Central America has been quietly waiting for exploitation by northern foreigners... no wait, I mean, quietly waiting for the publicity which this unspoiled paradise, so richly deserves...

will you be hablando español by then?
When we read our excercises back, you can see the pain in the face of our instructor, Juan. Then he says "muy bueno", or "perfecto"...let's just say, we'll speak a lot more español than when we started. Whether a spanish speaker can understand us, or not, time will tell.
