Scary before... but NOW !

Might have to change my name to Unky Clem.
I have knocked one of my front teeth out.
Loosened by JoAnne's late dog Mocha, I finished the job with the HD camera in Hawaii.

If i had been a normal Canadian kid, i would have knocked 'em out playing hockey, i guess.

Postcards fer sale !

I'm thinkin' about starting a sideline....

Blog Courtesy, Protocol and tradition

Since i have no knowledge of any of the above, i will shamelessly go back and add stuff to the previous blogs, just to keep the timeline in some kind of shape. If i was 12, I'm sure i would know how to do it properly. Note for example, adds to the "Gecko" and "Old Smokey" posts.
If it's a problem, sorry, if you don't care, that's ok too.
Please comment, it bugs Laura SO much.
and we're keeping score.

Hawaii - farewell

The SRWT crew has arrived safely back in Winnipeg, thanks to Hawaiian Airlines, and Westjet. (scary, and fun, in that order).

The Border Protection agency teased us with an US$11,000 fine in Honolulu. We followed the BPA's instructions in splitting the gear up to return to Canada, but were advised poorly by them . Big joke. We parted friends but Allan has a new frown line.

Get used to it, Sheazie !!

Even lounging by the pool, international celebrity Shea Kelli, will pause to sign autographs and chat with here fans.

It happened quite often. I guess our monster crew and mass of equipment made an impression on some of the other guests.

Stars at the Hilton

Our last morning

This is how Unky Duck amuses himself on holiday in Hawaii.

(I'm conflicted on the apostrophe issue- Hawai'i or Hawaii)

Home sweet Hilton

Another fine brand

These are a few of my favourite things...

Aloha

A couple of days off

Now, if Laura would stop calling the office every five minutes, maybe some fun could be had. (Actually I'm doing laundry, and bloggery, and they're all on the beach) Allan was just up here picking up Laura's book, the girls' Ipods, Aloe vera, etc. I asked "Did you come up for anything for you ?"

Of course not.

Allan- go directly to the gift shop and buy beer.

More pluggers for the Hilton

The Hilton Waikoloa is a feast for the eyes.

Blogging HQ

The nuclear family crashed early, fortunately I found a hammock within range of my travel router. I could get used to this.

Pretty quiet around here after dark.

Found some !!

We interviewed Everett Hyland a Pearl Harbour survivor on our first day of principal photography in Honolulu. My own camera, seen left, crapped out, taking the CUs with it. The interviewee was a radioman, just like our late patriarch CPO Hugh McCaw RCNR ret. We bonded like mad. He loved Shea and the interview was priceless.

Girls just want..

to go shopping.

We've downsized

We are no longer hauling all this craperoo around. We're down to 2 laptops, and one HDV camera. It really is paradise.

Simulation

Allan never actually relaxes. Here, he poses for the camera. When he isn't driving, or carrying something, wrangling bogies, or negotiating something, or paying for something, he's doing sound, or otherwise carrying us around on his broad shoulders. PLUS looking after the three wild women of wongo. (Laura, Bree, and Shea)

It really does look like this here

Meet "Quick" and her 2 girlfriends

The sign in the background is NOT a group nametag. Hilo Airport Friday AM

Surprisingly useful

We change vehicles so often, (and the rentals all look the same) that anything that helps us recognize the SRWT wheels is welcome. We usually do the old "X" but this time we also had these kinda scary lookin' deals from Jack in the Box on our antennae.
Racing through unfamiliar freeways, it's easy to lose sight of the lead vehicle. (or trailer for that matter)

Happy 30th Birthday

Thanks to Grant for the dinner suggestion of the Seafood bar in the Harbor Grill, in Waiamaia. We filled up with oyster shots, and birthday cheer.

It was Kahea's 30th birthday and the SRWT crew was honoured that he chose to spend the festive occasion with a bunch of strangers from the frozen north. It turns out that Grant had a part in the same musical that consumed Shea's spring, thus we got a bunch of Grease duets to amuse us through dinner. Kahea's a huge ONJ fan, so he was delirious. Good thing we still had Robin's bed available as Grant ended up legless...

SRWT loves Hilton Hotels

The Hilton Waikoloa Village.

One of the companies that "gets it".

We miss u guys

Now that the shoot is complete, most of the hard workin' SRWT crew has departed Hawaii for Winnipeg. Life here on the Big Island, will not be the same.
Thanks to all those whom I have abused continually for the last couple of weeks.

Product Endorsement

SRWT would like to thank the nice people down at Schwartzkopf for providing us with a ton of hair products to try out. Shea and Carrie couldn't stop talking about how great the stuff was, and Sheazie never looked better.

Mini-vultures

They have to bus the tables quickly here, or the birds are all over the bread basket.

That's a WRAP on Hawai'i !!

Funny, how everyone looks more glamourous, when the work is done.

I mean the SRWT Hawai'i work- I'm sure Laura hasn't stopped working for a minute.

Not my room

This view is not from my room.

However, it could be. It has been announced that Laura has delayed my flight out until mid-week.
I'll try and find some way to amuse myself.

Filling in the blanks

We shot the links for the Hawai'i episode at the Hilton Waikoloa near Kona. Basically, it's paradise.

Babe o Licious

Presenting the ladies of SRWT.
Carrie, Bree, Shea, Lori, Laura, and Marnie.

Look out Hawaii !!

Star power

Here at the Hilton Waikoloa outside of Kona, the viral marketing campaign is swinging into action.. All the kids on site seem right tuned into Shea's status as TV Celeb. She's signed quite a few autographs, and kids are stopping her left and right to have photos taken. Shea's taking it in stride. The kids (and their parents) are PUMPED about the show, and promise to watch the website for info on North American broadcasts. (Go Milty, Go Milty)

Waimea Brewers have a sense of humour

Just so you don't think that I'm not trying anymore .

I'm still looking for a local beer to endorse. Surprisingly, all the brands so far are a bit "hoppy" for my tastes. Weird, in that Heineken is one of my faves.

Run Marnie !! RUN !!!

Carrie has the hotel rhino at full gallop.

A blasted heath

After our interview and lunch with Mixjah, we were advised to take the backroute up the Saddle road to the Hilton Waikoloa near Kona. Great trip over a blasted heath. Marnie and Carrie have an anecdote they will no doubt share in person....

Not too many tourists up that way...

Mixjah

We met, fell in love with the music of, interviewed, hung out with , Mixjah. PLUS all their kids. You might not expect to find an original reggae-ska machine like this in Hawai'i but these guys really ROCK. They also came out later and swamped around in the pool with us. Check out Mixjah.com. (They are grinding their web-gal to get the site updated pronto)

Jason,Ekona,Grant,Eli ,Nate and Kahea -
After the rehearsal/concert we asked them where we should shoot the interview - they suggested Coconut Island.
"What's that ? A restaurant or bar ?"
"Uh, no, it's an island"
Jason's daughter Isis grabbed me by the finger and led me around the island when we got there. So cute i almost plotzed.

Big Island

After our meeting with Mixjah, we drove up to Volcano House.

On top of "ole smokey"

We stayed in these little birdhouses up on the Kilauea volcano. Totally cool. We built a fire, and had a ball. We didn't even need the extra blankies that we got at Wal-Mart*. Also bought a $3.19 t-shirt that claimed i was a Hilo lifeguard. Later wore it inside out for liability reasons. Too damn many lawyers down here.

*Laura's blog reports that it was cold- thanks Hef's Girls !!
